A popular request in our support desk is on how to change your account's subdomain.
When creating your ThriveCart account, you would have chosen an account name to use. This account name makes up part of the URL for your carts.
You might have entered an idea at the time, but later decide you want to change this to something else, what do you need to do? What do you need to know?
Well, all requests for changing your subdomain need to come through to email@example.com
Changing your subdomain will mean that any links your created that point to your checkout pages will need to be updated to reflect the new account name. Any embed codes used for the modal or embeddable cart will also need to have their codes updated.
If you’ve integrated with a PayPal account, you will need to make sure you update your PayPal’s IPN URL to reflect the change in your account name.
Detailed steps on how to do this can be found here
Lastly, you need to make sure your new account name is available and meets the requirements.
A ThriveCart subdomain needs to be a minimum of 3 characters long and a maximum of 30. It can contain letters, numbers and hyphens.
It also needs to be unique and not in use by another user. To see if your new account name would be available do the following
- Sign out of your ThriveCart account
- Visit thrivecart.com/xxx and replace ‘xxx’ with your chosen idea.
If the account name is likely available you will see an error message as shown below.
If the account is not available you will be directed to the ThriveCart login page.
